Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 9, 2026
Random Place Picker ("we", "our", "the app") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and what third-party services are involved when you use our website at randomplacepicker.cc.
Location Data
When you use the "Use My Location" feature, your browser may share your geographic coordinates with the app. This data is processed entirely in your browser and is used solely to find places near you. Your location is never sent to our servers, stored, or shared with any third party.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, session duration, and general geographic region. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve it over time. GA4 may use cookies and similar technologies. You can learn more about Google's data practices at Google Privacy Policy.
Travelpayouts / TripAdvisor (Affiliate Links)
We participate in the Travelpayouts affiliate program and may display TripAdvisor review links. When you click on an affiliate link, the affiliate partner may collect data according to their own privacy policies. We do not receive any personal information about you through these links.
Donatello.to (Donations)
If you choose to support the project via Donatello.to, your donation is processed entirely on their platform. We do not collect or store any payment information. Please refer to Donatello.to for their privacy practices.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim API
The app uses the OpenStreetMap Overpass API and Nominatim geocoder to retrieve place data. When you perform a search, your query (city name or coordinates) is sent directly from your browser to these services. We do not proxy or store these requests. Please see OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy for more details.
Data Storage
Random Place Picker does not have its own servers for storing user data. We do not collect, store, or process any personal information. All place searches are performed directly between your browser and third-party APIs.
Cookies
The app itself does not set cookies. However, third-party services (Google Analytics, Travelpayouts) may set cookies in your browser. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.
GDPR Compliance
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since we do not collect personal data, these rights apply primarily to the third-party services listed above. You may exercise your rights directly with those services.
CCPA Compliance
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you additional rights regarding your personal information. As we do not sell personal information or collect it beyond what is described above, your CCPA rights are primarily applicable to our third-party partners.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
